Once you are accepted as a carer, a fee will be paid to you. This fee is paid two weekly in advance and is paid in the form of bank credit transfer. The level of the allowance depends upon the age and number of children or young people you are caring for as well as your skills level (see Rates of Allowances sheet (75 KB PDF)).
In addition to your fee as an approved foster carer you will receive a weekly “Fostering Allowance” for each child in your care (paid only during the placement of a child). The amount of allowance is also dictated by the age of the child. Fuller details of all the financial supports will be outlined in more detail during you assessment (see Rates of Allowances sheet (75 KB PDF)).
