Once you are accepted as a carer, a "Carers Allowance" i.e. a professional "fee" will be paid to you following the commencement of the first placement. This fee is paid two weekly in advance and is paid in the form of bank credit transfer. The level of the allowance depends upon the age and number of children or young people you are caring for:

In addition to your "Carers Allowance", as an approved foster carer you will receive a "Maintenance Allowance" for each child in your care (paid only during the placement of a child). The amount of allowance is also dictated by the age of the child. Fuller details of all the financial supports will be outlined in more detail during you assessment.
